I finally started doing my composting. Not sure if I am doing it right but we made a start. First was some twigs to give it some good ventilation (?) and then I layered with some real compost to act as an accelerator, then some kitchen scraps and then some grass trimmings. THe bin’s outside, out in the sun though. Not sure if that’s good or bad. I am making sure that it remains kind of moist but not soggy. So far, I’ve seen lots of ants! No smell though. So I think that’s good. For now we just keep putting our kitchen scraps there. I am really glad that we’re not putting a lot of garbage in the trash now. We feel that we are significantly reducing the amount of carbon footprint that we leave on the planet. I wish to be able to give my yet-to-be-conceived kid(s) the same earth we’re enjoying today. Maybe even better.

I tried using the Stain Solver that arrived in the mail yesterday. I used it on the kitchen counter and boy, did it do wonders! I didn’t have to scrub too much, I let it do what it was supposed to do and walked away. I returned after about half and hour and scrubbed a bit, wiped the gunk off and voila! Clean grouts! My only dilemma right now are the bathroom tiles. It is hard to clean the wall grouts because the stain solver solution doesnt stick to the walls and the paste they’re saying i should make does not work - they dry up fast! Anybody got any suggestions? Please leave me a note!

Our house needs major grout cleaning! The previous owners didn’t clean the house well. Everything around us is kind of dingy. I had tried using typical stain removers (scrub free, clorox bleach, etc) but they didn’t seem to do the job. I am now trying this Stain Solver that I found online. So far, it’s looking good. My test area showed positive results. Man, it better work because I bought a little too much of this product. The good thing about this is it’s environmentally safe and I don’t have to worry about messing up my clothes from splatter! Oh my. I can’t believe my life has come just thinking about house cleaning products and cleaning the house itself!

Since moving in to our new home, there seem to be a lot of projects to be done here. For now I will discuss the first thing that I am excited about doing. It is composting. Now that we have to take care of our own trash, I am starting to notice the amount of garbage we’re throwing in the trash. We do recycle religiously, but the food items we throw away is quite unbelievable! I was throwing away lettuce heads, leftover salad, etc. I think it is time to start making my own compost since the next project I am thinking of is gardening anyway. I will share the composting procedures on my next post.

For some reason (most probably boredom!) I started watching The Secret Life of the American Teenager. This is a show about a teenager getting pregnant and I somehow watching it makes me jealous. Not of a teenager getting pregnant but anybody who gets pregnant.
Stupid, huh? I guess I am just really ready for it now. I am not a teenager anymore, I was very careful when I was single so as not to get into an “accident” and now that I am ready, I want it soon! I want it NOW!
Anyway, while I am at it, let me give you what I think about the show - i guess it’s ok, otherwise, I wouldn’t be watching it. But most of these kid actors suck. I don’t know if that’s what they were ask to do/act but they need to work more on their acting! Look at me rant and target poor, innocent kids who are trying to make something good of themselves. I should stop. Try again tomorrow.

Since the husband is busy working, I am starting to find ways to fix things around the house myself. Of course, they’re only small things. I still have to learn how to do the electrical wirings and plumbing. There was a broken shelf/tray in our refrigerator. What’s a woman to do? Krazy Glue! Just clean the tray (seems like we’ve been cleaning from the very first time we moved to this house anyway), make sure the surfaces to be glued are dry, apply the glue and voila! I fixed our refrigerator tray! Now, maybe I can fix that bent house foundation with this magical glue, too…

Two days before I was ‘scheduled’ to have my period, I started bleeding. There was a mix of feelings that day: disappointment because I knew it was my period; confusion because for the first couple of hours, it was brownish in color, which, when I searched online, it was a possible symptom of implantation bleeding. I was so tempted to do a pregnancy test! I wanted to get excited for that possibility. But after a couple of hours, it turned into a regular menstrual period. That was a total disappointment. I guess we’ll just have to keep trying. The thing is, my period stopped in just after 3 days which is quite unusual for me since I have a 4-7 day period. Oh, the mysteries of the female body!

In two days, I should have my period. Im hoping I don’t get it. I am hoping that I will be able to do a pregnancy test and have a positive result. This trying to have a baby thing is getting stressful and tiring. I hope that the stress that comes with the planning (and making!) this baby does not affect our chances of successfully conceiving. I have heard of stories where couples who have been trying to conceive have to try for years and years and when they finally “gave up” trying, that’s when they were able to make a baby. They said it was all due to the stress that they had put in their minds and body that put a hindrance in successful baby making :D.

A lot of
Hollywood stars have given birth to their bundle/s of joy. Yay for them! The thing about being a superstar is that you can command a lot of money. You make money from your job, and for posing for photos. And then they have babies and their babies’ photos cost millions of dollars! These babies haven’t done anything in this world and they already make more than a lot of people who have worked their asses off their whole life! I kind of want to think that maybe I will do the same thing if I had a baby (or babies!) but then I also think about the privacy of this child. I don’t know, I guess it will all about the money.

Today I read in the news that President Bush will lift the executive ban on offshore drilling. We already know that doing this will not solve the problem with soaring gas prices, and even though let’s say, it would help a bit, we will not be able to benefit from it, i.e. drill oil from them until 10 years later! What’s he thinking??? I still think he has some deal with the oil companies and he’s running out of time to fulfill whatever he promised them so he’s doing all he can without consideration for the rest of us. Stuff like this makes me really feel really concerned about the future of my yet to be conceived baby.
